a quick visit

This last week my mom came to visit and I didn't take a single picture. I'm an awful person.

Well with that said we did have a great time with her while she was here. She arrived LATE Monday evening and our adventures started on Tuesday. We took her to one of our favorite places, the Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay hotel. The kids loved showing her all the fish and sharks and a first for us the octopus was out. We then headed over to M&M world to check it out. The kids had never been and loved being able to choose any color of M&M's they wanted. They also had a short 3D movie for the kids to watch and almost as soon as it started Ellie freaked out and she and I left. Each night we (me and my mom) did movies and talked and of course had a fun treat to eat as well.

Wednesday Quinton had scouts that morning and I had an activity to get ready for that night. So we did a Costco run and the kids got to pick out a fun snack to take home. After our running around we headed home for lunch and then the pool. My mom enjoyed the "warm" (115) weather and the pool was perfect for really enjoying it.

Thursday we tried to go to the park but it was just too hot. We made it there by 10am but it was already 100 and just to hot to stay. So we came back home for more pool time and took mom to one of our favorite treat places, Yogurtland.
We came home and fed the family and as soon as Todd came home mom and I left for some fun shopping. I had a gift certificate to this really great cake shop but we got there just as they closed. So we headed out to our main destination Hobby Lobby. Again we arrived too late with only an hour and a half to do our shopping and so didn't see everything we wanted to. Guess she'll have to come back again.

We loved having mom/Grama all to ourselves and showing her our new town. Next time she comes to visit it will have to be when it's not quite so hot and we can do more things outside.

We loved having you mom. Thanks for being such a great Grama!

a little pool time

In our little neighborhood we have two small pools. Todd has taken the older three once to see what they were like and came back with a verdict of cold, very cold. Well since the weather has been "warm" as of late we thought we would have another go. For the first dip it is cold but once you've grown accustomed it feels really nice.

I am always nervous with my kids around water (because no one knows how to swim) but since the pool only goes to 4ft I could relax a little, and the fact that Todd got in with them helped as well.

Ellie and Holland mostly hung out with me on the steps. Holland was happy to go out and around with Todd but Ellie is still a little scared of the water.
The boys have gotten braver and will actually put their heads in the water.

They plan on spending as many days at the pool this summer while we still can.
