birthday girls

We celebrated two birthdays at our house yesterday. Ellie's birthday (the 27th) who turned 4 & Holland's birthday (the 28th) who turned 1. Luckily Ellie doens't mind sharing a party with her sister yet so we did the double whammy.

I made the girls a tutu, hair bow and stitched a their letter to a shirt, as well as ordered these cute leg warmers. (Baby legs has the cutest ever). Got to have that birthday outfit and of course had to coordinate with the party colors. : )

Ellie could hardly stand to wait to open her presents so as soon as everyone got there she tore right into them. Thank you to Grandma's and Grandpa's as well as my wonderful sisters for spoiling the girls. They loved it!

Holland didn't actually open any gifts. We gave her one and as soon as she got some paper off she was happy just to play with that. She was in heaven with all the wrapping on the floor.

After presents we headed for the cake. I also made the girls birthday crowns. Ellie couldn't wait to get hers on, I don't know why she looks so solemn, funny girl.

Holland's only lasted a second and I barely got the picture taken before it was off and on it's way to her mouth.

Holland LOVED the frosting, she never even got to the cake. She was one hyped little girl that night after all that sugar.

I did a lollipop theme for their party. I started planning this back in May or so. I had envisioned a few of Ellie's friends as well as cousins but ended up only having the family come. So I didn't get to do everything I'd planned but enough to still have some fun with it. I'd purchased the paper lanterns from Michael's dollar section during the summer. I used those for lollipops as well as candies that we hung. I had three more lollipops that didn't even get to make it to the party as well as some tissue pom poms. I didn't even get a banner made~oh well.

But here is what I did do. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Let's just say my morning didn't start out great. It took THREE attempts to get the cake to come out of the pan. SO frustrating!!

Finally it worked out. Two lollipops.

Had to do the cupcake toppers, and wrappers.

I made lollipop cookies, I finally got the hang of rolling them out by the second batch.

This was a last minute idea. I was also going to do dipped marshmallows but didn't get to it, oh well, next time. The popcorn balls were the favors to take home. They were lime, teal, and pink.

Happy birthday girls, we LOVE having you both in our family. It's been so fun watching you grow and do all those fun girly things. We love you both.

Halloween preview- warning LOTS of pictures

I can't believe Halloween is upon us already. It just hasn't felt like it was the season, I have only put up minimal fall decorations and no spooky stuff. Such is life while trying to sell a house. Well to help get us in the Halloween spirit we carved pumpkins with my sisters and their kids on Saturday. Last year I remember carving them right at the beginning of Oct. and by the time Halloween came they were shriveled and moldy. And of course we had a great time doing this together again this year.

Also on Saturday the kids school had their annual school Halloween carnival. The kids dress up and go and play lots of games and eat treats.

Holland got to use the frog costume Quinton wore when he was one. I had to add some eyelashes and a bow so you'd know she was a girl in there. Turned out pretty cute I think.

Ellie is actually going to be Tinkerbell for Halloween but her costume is wrapped as a birthday present she won't open til Tuesday so we improvised with a make-shift witch costume. She thinks she's going to be a witch so she was fine with it. Tinkerbell is a surprise~thanks mom!

For weeks before Weiland said he wanted to be a skunk. Last year at Old Navy they had a skunk costume, we went this year and no skunk. But I think he's pretty happy with the tiger.

I don't know what made Quinton want to be a vampire but he did and he was thrilled to FINALLY put his costume on.

And here's my scary bunch. We can't wait to go trick or treating!

Ok as promised here are the mirrors hung. They also are very cool because they are on arms so you can position them however you want.

Finished Bathroom

We start this post with a short trip down memory lane. When we moved here the downstairs only had the family room finished then there was a door that lead to all the unfinished parts, a laundry room, a bedroom, a bathroom and I guess another bedroom (my craft room). Well now we have a complete bedroom, the hallway is done, the laundry is sheet rocked and mudded, and now the beautiful bathroom. Todd spent months on this, there were a few hiccups and some renegotiating but it turned out AMAZING! Take a look and see for yourself. (note: I couldn't wait until he hung the mirrors so that picture will be added later)

These are in no particular order so bear with me.

I love this faucet for the tub, I think it looks like a telephone.

This shot is to show off Todd's cabnetry work, great job babe.

Love the unique faucets for the super cool sinks.

The lights are a light amber color when they're not turned on and when they are they cast a warm glow, love them too!

This shot is what you see directly ahead when you come in the door. See that window? it's a false window that has a light behind the shades so it looks like light is coming in from above and he's got it on a timer so it turns on when it's light outside and off when it's not. Such a smartie!

I love the detail he did in the tile work.

This is looking from the shower out. I should add that there is a pocket door that can be closed to seperate the bathing area from the rest.

I just love this counter top. He was hoping to try his hand at a cement counter top but as it turns out Idaho is the worst place to make them. Maybe next time.

He of course had to put in some built in shelves and cupboard, they look great don't they.

What I really wish is that this was my master bathroom upstairs. Oh well, I can always go down and visit it and I do. : D You did a fabulous job sweetie!
