Merry Christmas

What a wonderful Christmas season it has been. This year for Christmas I wanted to try and get the kids more involved in helping others so we did a 12 days of Christmas kindness (which only ended up being 9 days).

Day one: We took hot cocoa to our school crossing guards in the morning while they were standing out in the cold wind.

Day Two: We sorted our toys and decided what to donate to DI and took it too them.

Day three: WE took treats to the ladies in the front office at the kids school.

Day four: We took treats to the workers at our local post office

Day five: We went to Costco and gathered all the stray carts and took them to the cart returns as well as taking carts from those that were finished.

Day six: we took treats to the employees that worked in the customer service area at Walmart

Day seven: we took treats around to our friends and neighbors

Day eight: Left a treat for our mailman

Day nine: we bought the Salvation Army bell ringer hot cocoa

a few things we didn't get to but wanted to do and will be on our list to do next year are taping quarters to the kid vending machines, and taking Poinsettias to someone in a nursing home oh and give someone behind me in line a gift card.

The kids loved returning the carts the most and ask to do it every time we go to Costco.

We also had a wonderful Christmas day, this year it was just us and it was a little quiet but still a lot of fun. The kids were spoiled of course and loved every minute.

Some of their favorites this year: Holland and her Strawberry Shortcake
 Q and his aircraft carrier
 Ellie and her art supplies
 Weiland and his dalmation

We hope you all had a very merry Christmas.

trimming the tree

Our usual tree trimming family night. I decorate up until it's time to put all the santa's on the tree and then the kids take over.

you can tell where Holland did her decorating, front, center, and low.
It was Holland's turn to put the star on the tree this year. She was very proud and for the next few days told any one she saw.

So excited for Christmas!!

Happy Birthday Quinton

I'm conflicted in my emotions on how I feel about him getting older. I miss the the "little" boy stage but lucky for me he is still sweet. I'm looking forward to the more responsibility he'll be able to handle as he gets older but afraid for all that he's going to have to face that the world has for him. He's growing up to be such a great kid and it is such a blessing to have him in our family. Every family needs a peacemaker and he is ours.
He woke up on his birthday to a room filled with balloons and then headed down stairs to his presents under the tree. This weekend he, Weiland, and two friends get to go bowling with Todd and then back here for cake and ice cream. (the airplane cake picture to come)
the kid needs a haircut !

Happy 9th Birthday Q!
