Pine wood derby

We have survived another pinewood derby and this year we had two cars in the race. Both Weiland and Quinton designed their own cars and Todd tried to make them happen as best he could. In the end they were both thrilled with their cars and were sure they each had the fastest.

Quinton with his car #19

Wieland with his car #8

Weighing in. We're pretty sure there was something going on with the scales but we got it all worked out.

There was a lot of oogling going on over these trophies.

Weiland watching his car come down the track.

Both boys received trophies at the end of the night and both were super excited!!

They were both great sports and had a really good time. Great job guys!!

Happy 8th Birthday Wei

I can't believe he's 8.

My bald round baby is SO not bald anymore and far from round.
This year he had a small party and as it turned out his birthday fell on President's day this year so that there was no school on his birthday. Perfect day to do the party I thought but it turns out people go out of town on long weekends. It was still a fun time with the small numbers and his brother and sisters helped make up for some of that.

Weiland wanted a Panda party this year. What was I going to do with that? So I OK'ed it with him to make it more of a Kung Fu Panda party.

So bummed I didn't get pictures of the invites we took around. I used my Cricut and cut out a 5 inch or so panda and attached him to a mini take out box that I had put some Twizzler pull n peels in (which I pulled apart to look like noodles).

Big day.
We had started doing this on Quinton's birthday and all the kids loved it so it has now become a must do on birthdays. We filled enough balloons to cover his bedroom floor (which also covered the mess that was covering the bedroom floor). Todd and I finally got smart and use his air compressor to fill balloons, we can do so many more this way.

My attempt at a Panda cake

table ready to go

I found glow stick straws at Walmart that were pretty fun.

These were the favors they got to take home

We played some Kung Fu Panda games:
Like picking up candy with chopsticks to test their concentration

The shell game to test their memory

And the balloon stomp game to test their stealth

Then headed to the table to enjoy some cake and ice cream

Happy Birthday to my sweet boy!

Happy Birthday Weiland!!!

Happy Birthday to my sweet Weiland. I feel like he got jipped this year for his birthday. No party, no balloons or streamers, his gifts weren't even wrapped. I'm pretty sure my birthday decorations didn't make it here in the move and I couldn't find my wrapping paper to wrap the gifts his grandparents sent. I couldn't even find the box with his birthday gift in it from one of the grandparents. I feel like a slacker mom this year for him. He went with Todd yesterday, the two of us thinking he'd like to pick out a new bike for his birthday. But no, he really just wanted a few new animal toys and Toothless the dragon. So that's what he got and he loves them. We were both surprised he didn't want a new bike, but since there isn't the space here to ride like in Idaho he's not really into it. Maybe when we start to ride to school things will change and we'll try again. Oh well.

Anyway this year his birthday being on a Sunday kind of made it a little more low key. It would of been so much more fun of course having the cousins over for cake and ice cream (we really needed you all to help eat the cake). But it was just our little family and thankfully he really seemed to enjoy his day.

We were so surprised to find out we would be welcoming Weiland to our family only 6 months after Quinton arrived. I'm actually really glad they are so close together, now anyway, because they do act like best friends.

Unfortuantely this is not one of my finest creations but he loved it and that's all that matters.
(notice i couldn't find my birthday candles either, i was sure to tell them not to lick these ones)

Love my little man who is growing up to be such a big boy.

Graduation

I can hardly believe the school year is over. Where did all the time go? My second kindergarten graduate, amazing! Weiland loved kindergarten and all the fun things they got to do. Both Quinton and Weiland had the same teacher one right after the other and they couldn't be more different from each other. Weiland always had a good report when I would go in for parent/teacher confrences. He loved to play at recess and has told me he will really miss his friends. So proud of you Weiland!!

Birthday Weekend

Ok here's the recap of Weiland's birthday weekend.

Friday he brought cupcakes to his kindergarten class. As you can tell it's been a long time since I"ve done any thing crafty, I went a little over the top for kindergarteners but hey.

Then the REAL birthday day. He popped up and of course wanted to open his presents. And I knew if he didn't Holland would beat him to it so he got right to it.

Thank you grandma and grandpa Crabtree for these great books. Story time now is all about the animals and he's learned some pretty interesting stuff.

Thank you also to grandma and grandpa Sillito for the new scooter, what's better than getting exactly what you ask for. He can't wait to go out and ride it with Quinton. Luckily the weather has been pretty good so he might actually get out there.

And then Sunday we had friends and family over for cake and ice cream. This year he wanted a dog cake so I did my best. It went pretty well except I ran out of frosting from the first batch and when I made up the next it was lighter and softer so it did exactly match but hey he was happy.

The finished product. It's a good thing I got this picture before because we came home from church and the tail had fallen off and I could not get it to stick again.

Weiland really liked the tounge.

Here we are singing to him.

I told him to make a wish so he goes ok hold on a minute, and thinks really hard before blowing out the candles. (this is him thinking really hard)

I was SO bummed yesterday. We went to the museum for the dog exhibit and my camera wouldn't work so I have only a couple of pictures I took with my phone to document that outing. He had a great time and enjoyed playing in the kids area more than seeing the exhibit, oh well, just glad he had fun.

So that is Weiland 6th birthday weekend. We had a great time and look forward to many more birthdays. I'm curious to see how many animal cakes I'll have to make before he grows out of it.

Wish dad could have been with us to celebrate, sure miss him! Hope this helps him feel like he was there. Love ya babe!

Happy Birthday Weiland!!!

How did my kids get to be so big. Weiland is now 6 and I can hardly believe it. I remember finding out I was pregnant with him, it was a bit overwhelming since Quinton was only 6 months old. But I have loved having my two boys so close in age, they play great together most of the time and I hope they will be always be best friends as they grow up. Weiland is such a sweet boy. He can be very thoughtful and generous as well as mischievious. He is a HUGE animal lover and still loves to pretend to be one. I am so thankful he is part of our family. We love you Wei !!!!!

It's Weiland's birthday weekend, and I mean weekend. He brought cupcakes to school yesterday to start off the weekend celebrations. Today his actual birthday he wanted to go to the museum where they are having a Wolf to Woof exhibit., and being Weiland and loving animals we have to go. And to complete the birthday weekend tomorrow we're having family over for cake and ice cream. This year he wants a dog cake so wish me luck. Lots of fun pictures to follow.

Missing Tooth

We're having family night last week and near the end Weiland is singing and I look over at him and something doesn't seem right with his mouth. So after we're done singing I ask him what he's got in his mouth, because he always has something in there. He says nothing, so I ask whats wrong with his teeth and he shows Todd that he's got a loose tooth. The poor kid started crying because he thought he was in trouble. We reassured him that it was ok and that it was cool that he's got a loose tooth. Not an hour later he's playing around with it with his tongue and it pops out. So we got our very first visit from the tooth fairy and he was so excited at what she left him.
Way to go Wieland!!

here it is just hanging on

and it's gone

these pictures are a little freaky, but still totally Weiland.

Soccer

Soccer has begun here for the first time here at the Crabtree home. Quinton and Weiland were both excited to play when the time came. So the first practice was a learning experiance for both since niether had played before. Quinton did pretty good to stick with it while Weiland spent most of his time at the water jug and even left before practice was done. This should have been an indicator of how the games were going to go. Game one: both boys still trying to figure this out, Quinton is not very aggresive so doesn't like to get in the jumble of kids trying to kick the ball, but does great when it's just him and the ball. Wei can get in there and kick it but mostly wanders.

Second game they had enough players that two needed to sit out and be rotated in. Weiland once pulled out never went back in, hence the end of Wei's soccer career for now, which is ok, soccer isn't for everyone. Quinton scored two goals in the second game and you could tell he understood much better this time and will get better each game. I think Wei would be better suited for T-ball next time so we'll give that a try when the time comes. It's just fun to go and watch the boys have fun and kindergarten/1st grade soccer is quite amusing!

boys getting ready to go (they wore their shin guards daily since they day I brought them home)

Boys with Ryker, he had a game on the same field just before the boys game.

Weiland liked to kick off or throw the ball in.

This is how Weiland spent most of the game, everyone needs a little entertainment right?

The fun things I get to do with my boys and looking forward to lots more!
